Overview
Course Duration One Year Full-time
Leads to NFQ Level 5 QQI Award in Creative Media (5M5048)
This course will equip students with the creative and technical skills to design characters, craft stories, and produce 3D animated worlds using advanced digital technologies. Students will learn to use industry-standard hardware and software in our fully equipped light-filled animation studio and Wacom Cintiq drawing tablets in our modern computer labs.
Students will learn the fundamentals of 3D Modelling, digital design, storytelling and animation principles as well as how to build, light and compose animation sequences.
One of the main aims of the course is to prepare a comprehensive portfolio that will help students in progressing to higher education.
Students receive a free Adobe CC software suite licence, for use in college and at home.
ERASMUS+
Eligible students may also be selected for work experience under the Erasmus+ programme abroad.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should be able to demonstrate an interest in Animation. It is targeted at students with a specific interest in this sector who are willing to get involved and participate during the college year.
Since places on the course are limited, applicants will be interviewed.

On completion, students will have a strong portfolio of work that will facilitate their progression to a range of advanced courses, including:
