Developments in layout and design, internet technologies and mobile phone applications and advancements have created a huge demand for visual arts professionals with a high level of new skills and creative, artistic, commercial and communications talents.
The aim of this Level 6 Photography course is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work independently in a professional photographic media environment or to progress to further or higher education and training.
A primary focus of the course will be to facilitate the student to identify and develop the potential of setting up their own photography business within a range of photographic genres. The emphasis of the course will be on developing graduates to work within the commercial field of Photographic Industry. The Visual Media sector is an essential contributor to the Irish economy.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should have completed a relevant Level 5 course and be able to demonstrate a serious interest in Photography. Candidates who have no formal qualification in the area, but who have other relevant experience will also be considered. When called for interview, candidates should bring a selection of their own work (15–20 images).
Progression
The course will prepare graduates to commence work directly in the Photographic Industry or seek entry into 3rd level courses. Students may apply through the Higher Education Links Scheme to a range of courses at universities and institutes of technology.

Course Cost:
In response to the cost-of-living crisis, we are implementing a significant reduction in fees for all domestic (EU, EEA, Stamp 4) students undertaking a PLC course in the upcoming academic year. All charges, excluding a nominal, non-refundable, registration charge of €50, will be waived.
