Course Duration One Year Full-time

Leads to NFQ Level 6 QQI Award in Business

This course is suitable for those who wish to use advanced business and computer skills in a twenty-first century work environment or who wish to progress to higher level studies. It is also an ideal preparation for those who wish to start their own business or those who wish to up-skill or retrain for a new career and a fresh start.

With the aim of maximising their future employability, students will be trained to the highest level in aspects of Microsoft Office, desktop publishing, web design and business management. The latest software is used on this course including Microsoft Office Suite 2016, Adobe CC Products, and Windows 10.

Entry Requirements

It is essential that applicants have a prior computing qualification, such as FETAC/QQI Level 5, Microsoft Office Specialist, City & Guilds or have relevant work experience.

Applicants without an existing qualification will be required to demonstrate that they have the required aptitude for this course. Since places are limited, applicants will be interviewed.

Progression

Students who successfully complete this course may apply to do the EDI (formally JEB) Teacher’s Diploma in IT skills for those interested in teaching computer applications. Alternatively, they may apply through the Higher Education Links Scheme to do a range of third-level courses including Level 7 and Level 8 degree courses in Higher Education colleges.
